( 2.9 / 31 )Further to the filming for police videos (both training and opinion videos) you might remember being discussed in GLYNI a while back, we have received word that they are looking to do more filming after the Christmas holiday, around mid- to late-January. The actual filming is only about an hour to an hour and a half in terms of time commitment. Would you be interested in participating around that time? Think of the fame, the celebrity status

( 2.9 / 58 )Broken Rainbow is a support service for LGBT people experiencing domestic violence. We are currently undertaking an online survey to establish the prevalence of domestic violence amongst 18-25 year olds and to design programs aimed at preventing domestic violence.
The survey is available online, and can be completed at the following URL:

The survey only takes 10 min and can be completed by anyone aged 18-25. There are also great prizes to be won by completing it.

( 2.9 / 80 )A new LGBT youth group has been formed in Enniskillen, supported by Cara-Friend GLYNI as part of it's development work across Northern Ireland. It caters for young LGBT people aged 14-18, and meets weekly in the town centre.
Speaking of the set up of the group, Liam Larmour, the GLYNI Regional Development Youth Officer, said "The enthusiasm shown by the members of the group is refreshing. It is a vibrant group of young people coming together for support, both for themselves and for their peers."
Continuing, he stated "I enjoy working with this group, and will continue to do so over the coming months. I am amazed at how far they have come in a short time, and it is a credit to themselves that they have now set up their own website to show other LGBT young people in Enniskillen and Fermanagh that they are not alone. Here's to their future!"
Their website can be found by clicking on the link below. The members of the group joined GLYNI on their float in this year's Belfast Pride Parade, and some walked behind with their new banner, designed and created by themselves. they have also invited GLYNI members to Enniskillen for a bus trip and picnic in late August!
We here at GLYNI look forward to working more closely with our brother/sister group in Enniskillen - and we are especially looking forward to the picnie!
Welcome to the family!!!
FYI:
The Voice website can be found by clicking the link below. For young LGBT people seeking support by email, you can also email them at thevoice_support@hotmail.com. All emails will be treated with the strictest confidence.

( 2.9 / 91 )During Belfast Pride, Cara-Friend and The Rainbow Project launched a survey into access to GP services for LGBT people of all ages.
the survey is quick and simple to fill in, and can be done online. It is also completely anonymous, unless you choose to sign up to receive the findings by email.
Accessing your GP can be difficult for many LGBT people, who fear being outed by the family doctor or the receptionist. It has happened all too often, that somebody confides in their doctor and it gets passed on, or the receptionist or other staff see the records and break confidentiality. In GLYNI, we had cases where young people under the age of eighteen are outed to their parents by their family GP, through the GP confusing someone telling them of their sexual orientation as a child protection disclosure.
Of course not all experiences are negative - many GPs and other staff are extrememly supportive, but we don't hear these cases that often.
If you want your voice to be heard, whether you have had a positive or negative experience, then we would like to hear from you.
Please click on the link below and complete the survery. A few minutes of your time, added to a few minutes of someone else's, could make all the difference to someone else who hasn't yet told their doctor!!!

( 3.1 / 167 )The BNP - a far right conservative anti immigrant party has won 2 seats at Europe giving Nick Griffon, the party leader and one other candidate, the chance to access the EU's vast resources to use in their campaign or xenophobic retrobution on the UK for its pro multicultural policies.
The BNP nationally nicknamed Nazi's or Fascists now have access to money of up to £500,000 in wages and a further £1 million if they are able to make a "group" coalition with 26 other candidates of far right agendas in Europe.
It seems that recently, the liberal democracy the UK prides itself on has continually been subverted by extremist fringes and attacked, a problem of liberalism. As a homophobic party who recently published a list called "Rapists, Buggers and thieves" (ironically adapted from Cher, a gay icons, Gypseys, liers and thieves) listing MPs who were convicted of paedophilia/rape, other crimes and the crime of being "gay", the BNP are now at the forefront of politics.
This Blogspot is just a reminder for anyone who reads it. If you are disatisfied with labour, conservatives or lib dems, vote for a positive party eg the greens or independent candidates, do not vote for the BNP! If you know anyone who would vote, EDUCATE, EDUCATE, EDUCATE in the words of Tony Blair!!
